The Fire is on FIRE!

So I don't blog and don't really see that as a failing per se, but I think its about time to indulge my ego and kill some time. I'm currently spending time down in san diego (whale's vagina for those who don't speak espanol) on a strike-team for the major fire related disaster/evacuations that have taken place. Now that sounds really neat, but if i'm writing a blog to kill time you can kinda get an idea of how my time is being spent. Thank you FEMA! There have been a lot of people displaced by the fires and a lot of them require medical care or are unable to care for themselves, which is where we come in with our amublances and help out these victims. When we are active, people are amazingly appreciative, the outpouring of support has been incredible and the resources available to help in this emergency are little less than awe-inspiring. The downside is all this idle time waiting for locations to be cleared for us to start re-patriating those in need. I'm happy to be palling around with a lot of EMTs that i would rarely have had the opportunity interact with and surprisingly there are a lot of really great personalities in the group. Getting paid a heck of a lot of overtime to camp out in the back of an ambulance is also a nice perk (or will be once i'm finally back home). I would, however, like to feel like we're being more helpful and a little less idle. Anyway, its about lunchtime and that means there'll be something to do before hopefully getting an assignment this afternoon. Hope everyone is safe out there.
